従来、アパレルメーカーは製造業が主で、商品は百貨店などに委託販売されるのが主流でしたが、アパレルメーカーが商品の開発及び製造から販売までを単一で行う業態のことをSPAと呼ばれるようになり、現在では、小売製造業を指す用語として使われています。

流行の主導権をデザイナーから消費者へと移行し、消費者ニーズによる商品展開を試みたファイブフォックスは、まだバブル経済の余韻が残る1993年、低価格商品で生活圏へと踏み出しました。

百貨店への出店を中心としたデザイナーブランドとは違い、主に郊外のショッピングセンターに店舗を構え、量販店に近い価格設定でありながらも、メインブランドのコムサデモードのイメージを損なわないブランドとして誕生したのがコムサイズムでした。

バブル経済の全盛期、DCブランドに身を包んでいた若者達も、現在では結婚し、家庭を持つ世代となりました。

そんなヤングファミリー層から、コムサデモードのブランドイメージを保ちつつ、低価格帯のコムサイズムは、多くの支持を得ています。

コムサイズムでスーツケースを取り扱うのは、そんなヤングファミリー世代の家族旅行や帰省を意識してのことではないでしょうか。

小さな子供を連れての家族旅行は何かと荷物が多くなるものですから、キャリー付きのスーツケースは国内旅行や帰省の際にも大変重宝します。

また、コムサイズムのスーツケースは布製で軽量なうえ、価格も手頃となっています。

ただし、布製のスーツケースは、ナイフなどの刃物で容易に傷付けることができますので、治安の悪い海外では不向きかも知れません。

コムサデモードでもバッグやランドセルの扱いがあるのですが、スーツケースの取り扱いはないようです。
